Students for Environmental Action and IDEAS Miami joined forces with Sierra Club, 1Sky, Environment Florida, Surfrider, Repower America and more to hold a press conference and rally around the BP Oil Disaster. This is an awesome video on the event from a group called Youth Noise.

SEA @ FIU Hair Donations and Oil Spill Relief Efforts
It would be really amazing if we can spread the word about what we are doing and maybe get some media attention around it so we can get more people involved.
Right now we have about 35 salons and barber shops participating. Most of them are located near the FIU South campus. They are simply sweeping up the hair clippings and putting them into a bag, when the bag is full they call me and I come and pick it up. We can also use animal fur collected from pet groomers. Once the hair is collected it is used to make “hair booms” which are essentially nylon panty hose stuffed with hair clippings.
On May 25th FIU team members will be in the GC pit giving the “buzz on oil”! So stop by with you hair or nylon donations or for a free buzz cut!
